NYS DMV – Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles – Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) plays the central role in the promotion and coordination of multiple components of New York’s Impaired Driving Program. The funds and other resources the GTSC invests to reduce impaired driving are complemented by a number of other federal, state, local and private sector activities.

Disaster Assistance Relief Program

FOP Lodge 911 has created a Disaster Assistance Response Team (D.A.R.T.). Nineteen members of Lodge 911, volunteered and completed a required Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course. The course required them to attend 21 hours of classroom instruction and then pass a compulsory written exam. They were also required to take two online FEMA courses relating to the operations at a disaster scene and successfully complete an exam for each. These members are now certified to enter any federally designated disaster area and render assistance.
The primary function of the Disaster Response Team will be to provide assistance to the families of Lodge members who may be deployed to a disaster area and then to extend those services to other law enforcement personnel on a need and availability basis.
In an effort to maintain communications during an emergency and to encourage comaraderie and friendship among FOP members throughout the country, Lodge 911 has formed an Amateur Radio Club (aka Ham Radio Club).
Lodge 911 has obtained the call sign W2FOP and any member with an Amateur Radio license can join by sending a request to the Lodge. If you do not have an Amateur Radio license and would like to obtain one, please contact the Lodge and we will assist you in the process to obtain a license.
Lodge 911 maintains a working relationship with Paws of War. Paws of War is a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and support our veterans, active military members and first responders, with services that enrich their lives through the rescue and training of service dogs.
The mission is accomplished, in part, by visiting and providing comfort and relief to our ailing veterans and first responders when they are recuperating from an illness or, confined to a hospital or nursing home.
Paws of War also provides service dogs and training to qualifying veterans and first responders at NO COST.
