National Peace Officers Memorial Day – Police Week
Law Enforcement Officers – “Field of Honor”
In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
In 2019, Lodge 911 created a Law Enforcement Officers “Field of Honor” consisting of “Thin Blue Line Flags” to pay tribute to those in law enforcement who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We believe that this is a first of it’s kind tribute to appear anywhere in the country and the display can be viewed during National Police Week in front of the Babylon Masonic Lodge located at 250 W. Main Street, Babylon, NY.

If you do not have the opportunity to visit our “Field of Honor” and pay tribute to our fallen officers, we ask that you please take a moment on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15th, to reflect on the supreme sacrifice many of our Law Enforcement officers have made to protect the people of our great country.
We would like to extend a special Thank You to Lodge member Bob Licata and the Babylon Masonic Historical Society for their dedication to law enforcement and their assistance in hosting this tribute.
Veterans Day – “Field of Honor”

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11th to honor all military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
Lodge 911 honors our veterans by creating a Veterans “Field of Honor” to pay tribute to those men and women in our military who make it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms and privileges afforded to us by our Constitution.
Our Veterans “Field of Honor” consists of 50 USA flags displayed in front of the Babylon Masonic Lodge located at 250 West Main St., Babylon, NY.
Donations for flag representation have been collected by Lodge 911 and donated to the Long Island State Veterans Home located on the campus of Stony Brook University. The LI State Veterans Home is a 350 bed not-for-profit skilled nursing facility which provides short term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care and adult day health care to the 250,000 veterans who reside on Long Island.
Lodge 911 participates in various Police Memorial Car Shows with the Lodge Car & Lodge Trailer, both dedicated to our Stop DWI Awareness Program.
One of the shows that we attend is held at the Cradle of Aviation Museum with proceeds donated to the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association Widows & Orphans Fund and the Holy Name Society Scholarship Fund.

We also attend the Police Surgeons Benevolent Association Car Show held annually at St. Anthony’s High School with proceeds donated to families of fallen officers.
Lodge 911 attempts to participate in Police Memorial Car Shows depending on when they occur and the availability of our Lodge 911 volunteer drivers.
